It take you less than 5 minutes of being on political Twitter to realize that it sucks! You see more toxic divisive BS there than you do in a political video’s comment section on YouTube. People threatening to block other people for “offending” them, others spewing really nasty stuff at one another just for disagreeing on politics. This is something that both sides of the political spectrum are guilty of. Once people get into their echo chambers, it’s hard to talk about any ideas that don’t match the narrative.
Recommendations: Remember that Twitter isn’t real life, don’t be so defensive and try your best to separate internet trolls from people who want to engage in healthy dialogue. Also, try to not let the echo chambers we all put ourselves in trap us from hearing different sides of a legitimate political argument.
If you were smart you probably watched the Falcons dominate the Packers last night. It was a terrible game that was boring, uncompetitive, and just a total snore fest. However, if you had to choose between watching that game or watching the endless virtue signaling at the Emmys, you’d probably pick the uneventful football game. Every award show from the Grammys to the Emmys have become less about the awards and more about the celebrities foaming at the mouth to get on stage to rip Trump. We get it; from your liberal elitist bubble it’s cool to hate Trump, it makes you a good person to rip him apart any chance you get. But I got news for you, it is not hard to make fun of Trump! Literally anyone can do it, the man is a walking punchline. Comedians, making fun of Trump makes you lazy and celebrities, it makes you annoying. It’s not edgy, it’s not virtuous, and it’s not cool. It’s lazy ass comedy. People who don’t even like Trump find you annoying!
We the plebs, the commoners, the deplorables, whom you look down upon are the ones who pay your ridiculous salaries. Why? Because we like your work. Whether you’re a great actor or singer, you’re talented! We understand that, and that’s why we buy your albums and movies; we like them and they entertains us. It’s your job to create this art and you get heavily compensated for it. What isn’t your job is constantly lecturing the American people about your politics every chance you get. Nobody cares about your political views! But just in case you’re wondering, this goes for the people in the business who want to virtual signal in favor of Trump too, you’re no different. You wear a Trump dress to the red carpet? Oh so bold, so edgy! Not really. You got the exact same praise and virtue points from the right wing outlets, so don’t pretend to be any different. Is it too much to ask to be able to watch a cultural event without having to be lectured to? Why is politics infused into absolutely everything today? No matter the reason, it’s pretty damn irritating.
CNN found a way to make themselves look even more petty than Trump today. After Trump retweeted a GIF of himself taking a golf shot that hits Hillary Clinton as she falls the the ground, CNN responded with multiple articles making this seem like another huge deal. This to many is a reminder of the WWE GIF that Trump retweeted during the summer, which sparked similar outrage. To Trump’s trolling credit, the account the tweet came from goes by the name “CNN Sucks.” So if his goal was to piss off CNN and give them a BS story to cover constantly for the next two days, he succeeded. However, if he wasn’t trying to do this, he just created another distraction for him and his administration to deal with.
This is just another prime example of how the media is ready to jump on just about anything Trump does, but at the same time has to make you wonder what Trump is thinking when he does things like this. Like previously stated, if Trump is now doing things like this just to get under CNN’s skin, then he’s exceeded expectations and they’ve taken his bait once again.
Since the Charlottesville incident, videos like this have been trending all over the main stream media and throughout YouTube. It’s brought to light once again the argument over whether or not the confederate statues should be removed. To almost everyone in the American public, this is a non issue when compared to all the other problems going on in the country at the moment. However, two groups of jerkoffs make the loudest noise, especially with a mainstream media that loves to cover juicy divisive stories like these ones. The only sad pathetic people who really seem to care about this at all are the fringe minorities on opposite sides of the spectrum. Why? Because frankly, they have nothing better to do and they want everyone to know that they think they’re important. Why would we worry about something that matters? Maybe something like the botched heath care bill or the threat of nuclear war coming from the North Korean madman. No? Oh yea that’s right, we’re instead watching in awe as a microscopic group of pea-brained KKK members and neo-Nazis argue with a group of communist gender studies graduates about a freakin statue in the middle of who gives a damn Virginia.
The vast majority of American people do not care about this issue in any way, shape, or form. The everyday people care more about their heath care, national security, and pretty much anything else more than if statues that they’ll probably never even come across in their lives remain standing. The fact that the people involved in this Unite the Right rally thought they were being righteous by “defending” this statue in Charlottesville, or that these college kids with nothing better to do in the video above thought that they were showing their moral superiority by kicking and spitting on an irrelevant statue is nothing more than pathetic virtue signaling and cries for attention from two groups of losers.
*Sorry about being so cynical while writing this one, but this is just pure lunacy worthy of the highest cynicism. This is why free speech is needed, so it can show everyone what an idiot you look like when you go out and attempt to promote terrible ideas.
There’s an immense amount of problems in politics today. However, one in particular has stolen the spotlight this past week after stories circulated about Trump striking a deal on DACA with Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. This problem is the abundance of hero worship we see in politics. It spans across the political spectrum from the Bernie Bros to the Trumpsters. This week it was the Trumpsters who were very upset with their icon. After these stories circulated about Trump, some of his most adamant supporters took to social media to express their displeasure with him.
Take Ann Coulter for example:
Coulter is a prime example of the many who jumped off the Trump train real fast after these stories about Trump started circulating. Just as many of the Bernie Bros learned the hard way when he sold out to Clinton at the DNC, hero worship in politics does nothing but prop up these political figures for fantastic and amazing expectations only to always have its followers disappointed after a failure to fulfill these expectations. If you think a certain politician embodies all your views and principles, there’s a 99.9% chance you will be disappointed eventually. Why? Because they’re politicians, even those like Trump who claims they aren’t. Politics is a dirty game, and it corrupts even the most principled people. This isn’t to say that Trump or Sanders are principled in any way, Sanders the socialist owns 3 houses and Trump the poster boy for deportation clearly just showed he couldn’t care less. However, this is an opportunity to warn fans of certain politicians that even if they seem principled and unbreakable, politics will find a way of breaking them down, and you will be disappointed. Hero worship in politics is a great way to pump up a candidate, and a great way to bring them down, the latest event is just one more example.
Dave Rubin had on Professor Bret Weinstein to tell his side of the story. This is a very good and informational interview that shines some light on the crazy situation going on at Evergreen State College.
